The title of this book is pretty misleading. This book is not going to specifically tell you how to do a step-by-step restoration of a Model-A but it does contain some very good information that will be helpful to the restorer.The first few pages are some very general text about restorations. This portion of the book is from 1961 and it's not really that in depth.The rest of the book is largely taken from the Model-A Dealer Service Bulletins. This is excellent information and important for overall knowledge to service and operate the car. The service bulletins were written when the car was new or nearly new. I believe they were hard to come by back in 1961. You can buy an entire set now but they may cost more than this book. I don't know what portion of the Model-A bulletins are published in this book. I doubt if this is the full set of them.The book has quite a few (67) black & white photos. Many of them are pretty good quality though most were probably originally from the Ford Service Bulletins. There are some black & White photos at the beginning of the book that are just fair to poor quality. Those photos appear to be scans of the photos that were published back in 1961. Anyone that has seen a copy of a copy of a copy of a photo from a book knows how quickly the image quality can fall off. Some of the other 119 diagrams and illustrations are downright excellent and very clear.This book has numerous references about the Model-A including:• body styles & models along with their names and original prices• motor numbers and specifications• numbering system for parts• available colors & combinations of interiors & trim• general body dimensions (by model) & cutaway diagrams• parts suppliers and sources for care & maintenance of Model-A FordsMy version of this book is a Sept 2013 printing. I see that there are many different versions including a new 2014 printing. Not sure if there are better illustrations in the different versions.
I purchased this for my husband and he LOVES it!
Typical Floyd Clymer book. Reprinted other people's stuff & not very complete at that. Disappointed.
